Mark Your Calendars for the Book Launch of a Dear Friend of OMC
Book Launch Alert!
Diane O'Neill, Author of Saturday at the Food Pantry, One of Chicago Public Library's Best Picture Books of 2021 and a dear, dear friend of OMC will be launching her new picture book on October 12th in Lincoln Square.
The book is Please Be OK: A Story About Addiction by Diane O'Neill and illustrated by Anastasiya Kanavaliuk, published by Albert Whitman & Co.
This book, like Saturday at the Food Pantry, will no doubt spark important conversations in many homes across America.
Diane will be reading from her new book and from Saturday at the Food Pantry and will also be on hand to answer questions. For the last four years, Diane has been a regular attendee of the Office of Modern Composition's regular virtual co-writes. She's done such an amazing job building community and we're thrilled to be able to show up in-person to support her.

Book Summary:
Fiona has always looked up to her big brother, Dylan. But lately, Dylan has stopped spending time with her. He’s always hiding in his room or fighting with Mom and Dad, and sometimes the way he acts makes Fiona feel afraid. As Fiona uncovers the truth behind the changes in her sibling, she’ll also learn to look past his struggles and remember that he’ll always be the Dylan she loves—a big brother who needs help and support from his family to get through a tough time.
